Intern Roles
Interns, previously known as Program Ambassadors, are a fundamental part of the Summer Immersion Program experience. Interns will mentor, guide, and lead high school students while serving on one of four teams to support our program. Students are encouraged to apply to more than one of these roles if they are interested in serving in a variety of capacities. View all summer jobs below and apply on Handshake.
Marketing Interns, Operations Interns, Student Engagement Interns, and Teaching Assistants will receive a $500 weekly stipend, on campus housing (upon request), and meals provided during working hours.
Marketing Intern (9444912)
Successful candidates will have in-depth knowledge of marketing and social media best practices as well as an interest in working with higher education programs.
- Assisting with daily communication deliverables
- Designing and presenting social media campaigns and creating organic social posts
- Managing program social media platforms and marketing the Summer Immersion story to a high-school aged audience
- Collaborating on the daily Summer Immersion Program newsletter
- On-site photography and videography during academic activities and evening programs
- Utilizing graphic design skills to create digital and print media content
- Preference is given to Wake Forest University undergraduate students and recent graduates in communications, marketing, or related fields
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
- Preferred qualifications: familiarity with Canva, experience with social media platforms, photography or videography experience, outstanding multitasking abilities, creative aptitude and positive attitude
- Ability to work in person throughout the 8-week program (June and July)
- Clean background check and drug screening are required for hiring
Operations Intern (9444961)
This role will provide excellent preparation and practice for a career that will require taking initiative, quick-thinking, creative problem-solving, and strong leadership skills.
- Assisting with daily administrative program duties and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment
- Uses the Slate applicant database CRM to keep track of dietary restrictions, late check-ins, early check-outs, and airport shuttle rosters
- Assists in keeping facilities, storage areas and offices clean, neat and organized
- Assists both the Program Manager and Program Coordinator with daily operational and logistical coordination, including but not limited to: scheduling, liaising with guest presenters, inventory, room reservations, parking reservations, catering, transportation, and programming activities
- Preference is given to enthusiastic Wake Forest University undergraduate students with an eye for detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
- Detail-oriented with the ability to problem-solve and work in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, a caring attitude, and team collaboration
- Previous experience in operations/logistics, administrative support, or a customer service intensive role is a plus
- Ability to work throughout the 8-week program (June and July)

Teaching Assistant (9445400)
Gain valuable leadership experience during Summer Immersion Program Institutes including: medicine, law, bioscience, and more. Work alongside esteemed Wake Forest faculty members and network with industry professionals.
- Assisting with daily administrative program duties, leading critical classroom discussions, facilitating academic workshops and labs and attending institute field trips
- Utilizing leadership skills to support program academic leaders
- Greet and escort guest presenters to the classroom. Engage with guest presenters and ensure that mailing addresses are received and thank you notes are sent.
- Cultivating a positive classroom environment and mentor high school students
- Preference is given to enthusiastic Wake Forest University undergraduate students interested in mentoring high school students
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
- Preferred qualifications: Experience managing large groups of people, outstanding multitasking abilities, experience as a leader in an academic setting, and positive attitude
- Ability to work throughout the 8-week program (June and July)
- Teaching Assistants are not required to live on campus

Student Engagement Intern (9945417)
Spend your summer on campus making an impact and gaining valuable leadership experience. Student Engagement Interns will operate evening activities and provide supervision of students in the dorms and around campus.
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive campus culture for high school students residing in university dormitories
- Conduct regular dormitory inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met
- Enforce program rules and guidelines and provide oversight, guidance and support to students in making responsible decisions
- Plan, coordinate, and execute engaging evening activities, workshops, and events to enhance students’ summer experience
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or masters degree at Wake Forest University. All majors are welcome to apply

Summer Jobs for Professionals
Resident Life Coordinator
Wake Forest University’s Summer Immersion Program is seeking a seasonal full-time Residence Hall and Student Life Coordinator for our co-ed residential, pre-college summer program, located in Winston-Salem, NC.
This is a full time position in the summer months (eight weeks from end of May – end of July). This position will be responsible for maintaining the safety and wellbeing of all Summer Immersion participants while in the residence halls, ensuring positive behavior among high school students, mediating and providing conflict resolution, guiding undergraduate student interns, organizing and facilitating evening activity assignments, and monitoring students participating in the summer immersion program by providing on-call support overnight. This is a summer job ideal for teachers or education professionals with availability in the summer.
