Throughout the 2020 Wake Forest Summer Immersion Program – Online Experience we will be featuring different students to talk about their diverse experiences in our Institutes. Learn more about our Health and Wellbeing Institute from the perspective of our students.

Georgia:

I had a thorough and meaningful experience participating in the Health and Wellbeing Institute, a Summer Immersion through Wake Forest University. The program introduced its participants to a diverse range of information pertaining to both the topic of Health and Wellbeing and future college experiences. Our academic leader, Sharon Woodard, led thoughtful discussions on the eight different aspects of wellbeing and presented new and engaging information through student-centered activities and experiences. It was also a thrill to see the Waker Space and learn about future careers and exciting college experiences that we could pursue, particularly if we center our academic focus in the category of Health and Wellbeing. All of the guest speakers were very informative, brought new and engaging information to our attention, and were more than happy to answer all of our questions. Finally, the Program Ambassadors, Kaleb and Akaya, were a great support for the program and provided all students with answers to questions regarding college experiences, especially those that would involve a further exploration of our interest and goals for the future. I look forward to more opportunities to further explore the vast topic of Health and Wellbeing. The Summer Immersion program through Wake Forest University was a great beginning!

Students learned about all aspects of wellness. Social, environmental and physical are a few examples.

Noah:

I had an awesome experience participating in the Wake Forest Health and Wellbeing Summer Immersion Program. The Program highlights the 8 dimensions of wellbeing through the program head, Program Ambassadors, and various guest speakers. I thought it was really cool to see how passionate each guest speaker was about their respective area of expertise. My favorite topics were the sections focused on emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I enjoyed learning about the topics as well as the many ways in which Wake Forest prioritizes these areas of wellbeing and encourages students to engage in activities to promote their overall health. In addition to learning about the 8 dimensions of wellbeing, I also gained a lot of insight into what it is like to be a student at Wake Forest. During the program, I had the opportunity to sit in on an info session about the school as well as a virtual campus tour that highlighted the various seasons at Wake. Also, I was able to gain a lot of firsthand knowledge about Wake through many resources, including the various guest speakers, the student ambassadors, and even the President of Wake Forest!
